WHAT IS BROFAT?
It is concentrated energy engineered to suit the needs of Poultry-broiler, breeder or layer birds.
It is an ideal blend of Saturated (SAFA), monounsaturated (MUFA) and polyunsaturated (PUFA) fatty acids that is very closer to the profile of Chicken fat.
Poultry industry uses fat as an energy supplement and presently many kinds of fats are being used such as crude soy oil, palm oil, soya lecithin, sunflower oil, ricebran oil, tallow or lard as inclusion in their dietary feed.
As the demand for vegetable oils for food has increased tremendously in recent years, it is impossible to justify use of factory produced fresh vegetable oils for Bio fuel & animal feed etc. Moreover, vegetable oils could be more expensive energy source for animal diet supplement.
Important vegetable oils that can withstand the heat of our cooking or processing animal feed are Avocado oil, Mustard oil, Palm oil, Groundnut oil, Rice bran oil, Safflower oil, Semi refined sesame oil and Semi refined sunflower oil etc.
However, due to rising demand for human needs all these oils have risen in prices making them more and more unreachable for cash strapped and cost driven animal feed industry.
It would come as surprise to note that no oil used, can justify its inclusion in the Poultry diet as it does not singly meet the Unsaturated to Saturated Fatty acid requirement elaborated hereafter. For example Soybean Oil has very high ratio of Polyunsaturated fatty acids; likewise Safflower oil and Rice bran oil has inherent problem of waxes-ME decreases- while it has more non triglycerides and sludge giving variable ME value on the other hand Palm oil is highly saturated and instable most importantly these Vegetable oils fresh from the factory has very poor storage capability that has to be addressed each time by addition of antioxidants.
Chickens require energy and a number of essential nutrients, including amino acids, minerals and vitamins for maintenance, growth and egg production. Fat is usually included in diet formulations to meet the high energy requirements of broiler chickens, as energy value of the fat is much higher than those of carbohydrates and protein. Fat inclusion generates other benefits direct and indirect by simple addition of fats in the diet.
Supply of energy represents major cost in feed formulation. Moreover, due to constant steep price increase trends in cereals, there is an increasing need for the inclusion of fat.
Most of the available data on the digestion and apparent metabolizable energy (AME) of fats for poultry were 20-40 years old and based on studies conducted with slow-growing strains of broilers (Young,1961; Lessire et.al.1982; wiseman et.al1986. Huyghebaert et.al.1988; NRC, 1994). It’s only recently that several researchers collectively as well individually studied new genetically modified strains of fast growing broilers. It is our endeavor to collect data from all such researches and place before you a balanced view on the growing usage of fat and the need to further improvise and adopt blended fats due to economic reasons as well as based on well researched data on their utility.
We, at Rnk Agro & Chemicals P. Ltd., have put in years of research and trials to formulate an appropriate Concentrated energy source using right mix of Fatty acids SAFA+MUFA+PUFA fortified with phospholipids and antioxidants-BROFAT RHT II & Premium- engineered to suit the need of poultry industry for the breeders, commercial layers and broilers.
